Salt Lake City Stars' Joel Bolomboy watches a play during the second half against Oklahoma City Blue on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, in Salt Lake City.
The 6-foot-9 forward ended the NBA G League Showcase with a performance named one of the five best among all players there, according to a post on the G League’s website.
The showcase brought all 26 G League teams to Mississauga, Ontario, for a four-day, in-season scouting event meant to give top NBA hopefuls a chance to shine in front of scouts. Each team played two games from Jan. 10-13.
After an up-and-down season, Bolomboy acquitted himself in his two opportunities while playing with the Wisconsin Herd. He averaged 25.5 points and 13 rebounds per game to earn All-Showcase First Team honors.
Against the Texas Legends, Bolomboy scored 24 points and grabbed 18 rebounds, 10 of them on the offensive glass. He totaled 27 points and eight rebounds against the Austin Spurs.
Jeremy Senglin’s rookie pro season has seen improvement this month. Weber State’s all-time scoring leader is averaging 20.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game in January with the Long Island Nets.
Those numbers include two Showcase games. In the first, Senglin totaled 16 points, six rebounds and eight assists. In the second, he scored 29 points and drained seven 3-pointers.
He’s averaging 13.3 points per game and shooting 40.4 percent in 25 total games.
Davion Berry is averaging 10 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 24 games in his return to the G League and Raptors 905. But he took full advantage of his sixth start of the season Wednesday.
Berry scored 29 points on 10-of-17 shooting, including 4 of 9 from deep, adding four rebounds and three assists in a Raptors loss to the Canton Charge.
